How can the investments in the expansion of the bulk railroad sector drive sustainable development in Brazil?
Will the increasing participation of railroads in the transport matrix be a deciding factor to minimize global climate change? This is the core issue of the event VIII Brasil nos Trilhos, to be held on August 27th, 2024, at the Centro Internacional de Convenções do Brasil – CICB, in the city of Brasília. The most important event of the bulk railroad sector in the country is once again happening presentially, with the participation of representatives of the Federal Government, Legislative Power, TCU [Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts] and main entities of the sector, in addition to experts and the heads of the concessionaire companies.
This event could not have come at better moment to celebrate both, the 170 years of the Brazilian railroad system and the 20 years of the creation of Brasil nos Trilhos [Brazil on Tracks]. Expectations are positive regarding the new advances in logistics, and the gradual but persistent growth of the participation of the bulk railroad mode in our transport matrix.
There are, however, great challenges ahead, and they are to be discussed in the 8th edition of the event. Thus, the central topic is “Sustainability in Movement”, with the goal of fostering a highly technical and constructive debate about the role of railroads in the Brazilian and global sustainability agendas
